Ms. Traci Upshaw

I am honoured to be the Principal at Carstairs Elementary School! This is my third year at CES, and I am proud to work alongside a dedicated staff and our amazing school families.

I feel fortunate to have 24 years of experience working in K-12 public schools as a teacher and school leader. I have also worked at the provincial level with Alberta Education. Elementary school students have captured my heart and are now my favourite age group of students to work with. Their excitement is infectious and every day is an adventure! 

Over the years, I have continually grown as a school leader and value relationships as central to the success of students. My passion lies in working alongside students, teachers, parents, and the community to provide meaningful and engaging learning opportunities and a positive school climate. I am a lifelong learner and welcome new challenges to expand my repertoire of skills. 

While my education and career have taken me back and forth between Northern and Southern Alberta, I am proud to call Carstairs home and have enjoyed settling into the community over the past 2 years. I grew up in Airdrie and have two adult boys, Cole and Reed; and two dogs, Lily and Bella. I am an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and have been lucky enough to attend a few games over the past few years. 

I look forward to working together with you and your children this school year. We are going to continue to do  great things together at CES where we Care, Explore and Succeed!
